What Do You Mean We All Have Them?

Some are big.

Some are small.

They come in all shapes and sizes. We often don’t know where they come from.

I don’t deserve a good relationship.

I am too old to change careers.

My kids have all left and I have no worth . . .

I am not good with numbers.

And it goes on and on. Or it can go on and on until you learn why you have the belief and how to kick it to the curb.

So, let’s get to the nitty-gritty of these things called limiting beliefs.

Limiting beliefs are hurdles (Some people consider them excuses, which they could be if you don’t read on!) created and stored in our unconscious mind. Imagine your unconscious mind has a Google Drive where it stores these beliefs. When your unconscious mind senses you are considering something new or something that means you need to take a risk, it goes into the drive and pulls out a belief that works in that situation. Your unconscious mind whispers in your ear and you do one of two things: 1) Stop and let the limiting belief seem true or 2) Tell the voice to be quiet and remember a positive learning or affirmation you have.

Do you ever get rid of the limiting belief?

Nope. Sorry to tell you that. And you can’t just say a positive statement to make it go away. It requires action. Limiting beliefs stick with us. They are part of the programs that run us. The good news is, once we know what they are specifically, do some work to identify how to get past the limiting beliefs, and have our unconscious mind put them back in our Google Drive, we are empowered to create what we say we want.

What limiting beliefs do you have that you want to work through? When do you want to find a way to overcome those limiting beliefs? Are you willing to take the action to move yourself forward?
